Preserves

A Network of Campuses

Whether it's kids discovering, scientists researching or families spending time together, we provide places that allow people to enjoy the land.

Prairie Plains Resource Institute has pioneered grassland management and educational activities on its network of eight native prairie preserves, beginning at a time when few such preserves existed in central Nebraska.  The Great Plains has very few land trust organizations and very little public land.

Since 1983, Prairie Plains has received gifts of six exceptional prairie natural areas and has purchased two other sites. PPRI also added to a donated site with a purchase. These eight preserves encompassing 6,512 acres are representative samples of the North American grassland ecosystem, and we invite you to experience the unique beauty that each site has to offer.
