Prairies made by hand.
We preserve, maintain and restore native prairies and wetlands. These conservation sites are used for community education, recreation and sustainable economic development.
Our MissionWe preserve, maintain and restore native prairies and wetlands. These conservation sites are used for community education, recreation and sustainable economic development.
Our MissionPrairie Plains Resource Institute has pioneered grassland management and educational activities on its network of eight native prairie preserves, beginning at a time when few such preserves existed in central Nebraska.
Whether it’s kids discovering, scientists researching or families spending time together, we provide places that allow people to enjoy the land.
Prairie Plains spent its early days harvesting seeds from local wild populations, planting small plots and understanding local native prairies.
Parcels restored to prairie provide increased rangeland productivity, pollinator habitat, water quality, biodiversity and educational/recreational space.
Woody plant (tree and shrub) invasion is an ongoing threat to prairies and requires persistent management, but Prairie Plains can tackle your project.
