Prairie Plains Resource Institute
Prairie Plains Resource Institute has been celebrating the land and its people since 1980! A nonprofit educational land trust, we’re dedicated to creating opportunities on the land for people of all ages. We offer a full calendar of events on our seven Nebraska prairie preserves, consultation for landowners and agencies regarding high-diversity prairie restoration, an award-winning nature day camp for elementary students and much, much more.
Griffith Prairie Fun Run/Walk
The June 6th Fun Run/Walk was a great way to get more people out on the land to enjoy the beauty of the prairie. Walkers and runner alike enjoyed amazing scenery and the start of a very flowery summer. See photos of the event here.
Chance of a Lifetime
Prairie Plains has a unique opportunity to enhance a public/private corridor along the Platte River in Hamilton County, Nebraska, with an option to purchase the 650 acre Sherman Ranch. Read Bill Whitney's article in Prairie Fire Newspaper about Tom Sherman and his land here. Then read about the project and download pledge forms here, donate online here and watch an interview with Tom Sherman to hear more about what this property meant to him.
Youth Naturalist Program
Our Youth Naturalist Program (YNP) continues to grow! An extention of our successful SOAR summer camp, YNP provides outdoor learning experiences for 7th through 9th grade students in a smaller group and with more in-depth content. Check out photos of the 2015 program here.
